When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? If you have to stop and think about it even for a second, I need you to stop what you are doing right now and go, I mean run and clean them immediately! Makeup brushes accumulate dirt, dust and oil which leads to a breeding ground for bacteria. I am not implying you are a dirty person, we all have dead skin cells and bacterial naturally occurring in and on our skin, we just have to take the right steps to keeping the bad bacteria at a distance.
Washing your makeup brushes should part of your weekly routine. Even if you only use them sparingly, you are still swiping them on your face where dead skin cells are being swept up into your brushes. And all of those facials and skincare regimes to help rid your face of acne and maintain a healthy glow are not as effective because you are putting dirt back on your skin.
No need to pull out the bleach to clean your brushes, just a mild soap like baby shampoo will do the trick. Simply wet your brush, apply a small drop of soap in the palm of your hand and swirl your brush around in the soap. You will see the excess makeup start to accumulate in your hand. Depending on how much makeup you use you may have to rinse and repeat this step a few times. Once it is cleaned, make sure you have thoroughly rinsed your brush, shake out the excess water and leave on a clean towel overnight to dry.
Once you start making this part of your weekly regimen you will start to notice not only a change for the better in your skin, but your makeup application will be much smoother as well.
